Medicare claims still on hold. New 6 month Medicare Physician payment
provision now being debated

The Senate was unable to bring the House-approved version of this legislation to the Senate floor for debate following a failed procedural vote yesterday. This means that Medicare claims for June 1, 2010 on, are still being held – creating cash flow issues for Medicare providers.

A new amendment calling for a 2.2% increase in Medicare reimbursements to physicians is now being considered. This would be a 6 month temporary solution. The Senate could vote as early as today, however, this is unlikely as debate on the bill will likely continue for a few days before a final vote is taken.

If the bill is signed into law, the pending Medicare physician payment cuts would then be delayed until Dec. 1, 2010.
