Medicare is Processing Claims at Reduced Rate
CMS instructed Medicare contractors to start paying claims for dates of service June 1, 2010. However, CMS is paying the claims at the 21.3% reduction.
A new amendment calling for a 2.2% increase in Medicare reimbursements to physicians is now being considered and was passed by the Senate. The House still needs to approve the amendment and they are on recess June 22nd. Once the amendment gets approved by the House of Representatives, CMS should reprocess all claims for dates of service June 1, 2010 forward at the new Medicare Fee Schedule.
